Justin Kouri
Culinary Director

Justin Kouri.pngA New York transplant, Chef Justin Kouri has cooked in Michelin starred restaurants, been a private chef for celebrities and worked as a food stylist for Food Network and Martha Stewart.  Soon after arriving in Houston, he began volunteering with Recipe for Success and was so inspired by our work he decided to join the team as our Culinary Education Coordinator.  In this role he is responsible for developing and testing all of our Seed-to-Plate Nutrition Education™ culinary curriculum content, delivering our Worksite Wellness programming, curating RecipeHouse and collaborating with our Chefs Advisory Board members to engage in our work.

Justin earned his bachelors degree in English and French from Hiram College in Northeastern Ohio. In college, he joined Stone Soup--a vegetarian/vegan coop, where he honed his nascent cooking skills. After graduating, Justin moved to Saint Affrique, France, home of the world famous Roquefort cheese, to teach in their elementary school and assess the regional curriculum.  But the kitchen beckoned, so he moved back to the States to attend the French Culinary Institute in New York and a chef was born.

Justin still globetrots, shamelessly eating too much on the road, and bringing new ideas to home to incorporate into his cooking.  Despite that, he eats healthily and stays in shape by running. When not working, cooking or traveling, Justin is training for the next Houston Marathon.
