Bob Cavnar
President and Chief Executive Officer of Milagro Exploration
A native Texan, Bob moved to Houston in 1996 after following his career to Michigan, New York, the Rocky Mountains and back to Texas. He is the General Partner of a privately held oil and gas exploration firm with operations along the Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi Gulf Coast. Prior to Milagro, Bob served as Chairman, President and CEO of Mission Resources; held various positions at El Paso Corporation including Vice President and CFO and Senior Vice President and COO of El Paso Field Services, and Senior Vice President and CFO of El Paso Production Company; was Executive Vice President and CFO of Cornerstone Natural Gas, Vice President and CFO and Treasurer of Mountain Gas Resources and member of the Global Energy Group of the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.
Bob holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University, a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University, and completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. He began his career working on drilling rigs and in pipeline operations before returning to school to secure his MBA.
Bob is on the Executive Board of Directors for KIPP Houston and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for National Policy in Washington, D.C. He is also the Senior Chairman of the Board of the Houston Grand Opera after having served as its Chairman for two years. He has served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Alley Theatre in Houston as well as the Board of Directors of the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame in Galveston, Texas.
A true renaissance man, Bob is a licensed pilot, accomplished musician, motorcycle and racecar enthusiast and a damned fine cook. He has been an wholehearted supporter of his wife, Gracie's inspiration to form Recipe for Success, donated the seed money to launch the Foundation in 2005 and is a lifetime member of the board.
