Franci Crane
Philanthropist & Community Activist


FranciCrane.jpgA graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Franci Crane was named as its 2007 Distinguished Alumnus for Community Service.  Franci honed her skills as a trial lawyer at Susman Godfrey for over two decades and was named by The Houston Press as one of the "women lawyers that men most feared." Her husband Jim agrees.

Today, Franci gives her time as a community volunteer. She is a champion of the arts, sitting on the Executive Committees of the Houston Grand Opera where she chairs the community outreach committee; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as co-chair of the Film and Islamic Art Subcommittees of the MFAH; and Inprint, Inc., where she chairs the Presidents Council.

Houston Mayor Bill White appointed Franci as his Film Liaison to the community, to the Board of Houston MediaSource and the Executive Committee of the Board of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau. Franci assisted First Lady Andrea White design the "We're All Neighbors" programs, monthly events that showcase Houston's richly diverse community by featuring unique women and female-specific issues.

Franci has chaired numerous special events in Houston, including the Houston Grand Opera Ball; the Inprint Gala; the Get Crafty! Gala for the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft; and Gala on the Green.  She was named a 2002 Women of Distinction in Houston by the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and ABC's Channel 13, and a Houston "Women of Influence" by Houston Woman Magazine.
