Kathi Mosbacher.jpgA native Houstonian, Kathi attended cooking school at James Beard's in New York, La Varenne in Paris, and with Ken Lo in London, and then graduated from the Cordon Bleu in Paris.  Many of the essays in "The Adventurous Palate," first appeared in the Houston Chronicle, where she spent the 90's as the food editor.  After leaving the newspaper business, Kathi wrote an award-winning column in Culinary Thymes and was most recently the Houston food editor for Tribeza magazine. Kathi continues to contribute lifestyle feature stories to national magazines, including Town & Country, Departures, T Magazine (New York Times,) Gourmet, Food & Wine, Houston Modern Luxury, Food Arts, epicureous.com and Town & Country Travel, and has worked with several Food Network projects.

On the flip side of food is a life-long emersion in public policy and the arts, which she has managed to combine. Kathi is a member of the Woodrow Wilson Council for the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and she served on the Board of Directors of the Actors Studio where she studied with Stella Adler from 1972-1975.  After working on a winning presidential campaign, she was appointed to organize celebrities for a series of White House Bicentennial Dinners.

Kathi chaired the 2004 End Hunger Gala in Houston and is a proud Final Round Barbecue Judge every year at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. She married Michael Wheeler in 2007 and continues to cook and dances every chance she gets.
