Maya Ford
Marketing Manager, Houston Zoo
Maya Ford is a native Houstonian who grew up in the Third Ward community. After graduating from University of Florida with a degree in Political Science, Maya returned to Houston to work in public relations and marketing in industries as diverse as Health care and manufacturing.
Since joining the Zoo she has managed many special projects and grass roots initiatives including: Art Car Parade, Children's Festival, Lemonade Day, ACCESS Program, FLOCK, National Association of Travel Writers, National Elephant Center and Geico Gecko/Zoo promotion, and new animal exhibit promotion. She also is the liaison to media for radio, television, and print, including copywriting and direction of radio and television spots and print ads/coupons and works directly with agencies on promotions and advertising for Zoo campaigns. Maya is also the Zoo's liaison to all major Houston sports teams for sponsorship and promotions.
Maya is the mother of three beautiful children and since its founding her entire family have been active participants, consistently giving their time, joined in classes, participating in fund raising, and sharing the Seed to Plate concept with everyone. Maya is passionate about her family, world citizenship, cultural diversity, great health, and community organizations that provide applicable programs contributing to better quality of life. She is looking forward to playing her part in bringing Recipe4Success to all Houston households.
