Paula Arnold
Communications Professional
Throughout her career as a communications professional, lobbyist and elected official, Paula Arnold has advocated for issues that impact Houston's diverse communities.
Her true passion is public education. She was elected to serve two terms (1990-1998) as trustee of the Houston Independent School District Board of Education, where in 1991 and 1996, she served as president. She worked as communications project manager for Rebuild HISD, the district's $808 million bond program and successful 40-month community outreach and information campaign for Rebuild 2002.
Paula has also helped develop a successful community relations program designed to help the Houston Community College System secure passage of its most recent bond initiative. She has consulted Fort Worth ISD, Pasadena ISD and Spring Branch ISD for their bond programs.
Paula's expertise in the field of education extends to her work in communications. Since 2003 she has managed a public relations firm serving public and private sector clients including Mercer Health and Benefits; Academy Sports + Outdoors; METRO Solutions; the Harris County Toll Road Authority and the Harris County Watershed Protection Group.
Paula serves on numerous community-focused boards, including the Center for the Reform of School Systems, Houston Center for Contemporary Crafts, Texas Freedom Network and ProVision. She is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum and a graduate of Leadership Houston. Paula holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Houston and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Texas at Houston.
