Some people celebrate holidays with food
and festivities. My family celebrates Christmas with sweet potato pie. Sweet
potato pie is my favorite holiday food. When I tell you when and why my family
eat it, how it's cooked, and it's sense of smell and taste, you're going to
love my mom's pie.
My family started this tradition when I
had my first Christmas. They did it to celebrate the process of me growing. My
nickname was sweet potato pie. I celebrate it because I love my family, and
they love me back.
The way my mom makes it is by making the
crust, mashing the sweet potatoes, and cooking the pie. My mom uses 3-1/2 cups
of flour, 2 cups of water, 2 eggs, and 1 half cup of oil. Then, she mixes it to
make the crust. After that, she shapes the crust and puts it in the oven for
about 30 minutes with the temperature at 350 F. Next, she cuts and mashes the
sweet potatoes and adds marshmallows and cinnamon. Then, she puts the sweet
potato in the oven for 20 minutes at 250 F. Next, she pours it into the crust,
and lets it cook for ten minutes, and takes it out to cool.
My mom's pie smells like cinnamon. It
has a gold topping when it's finished baking. It's crunchy on the outside, but
moist on the inside. It tastes like a cinnamon wonderland with marshmallows.
Now I've told you my family holiday
food. When and why my family eat it, how it's made and it's delicious senses. I
love to eat my mom's pie. It's my favorite food especially because my mom makes
it from scratch every year.
